Beeswax and Calendula Salve
Beeswax, the substance from which honeycombs are built, restores and locks in moisture. This salve comforts dry, brittle skin on your hands. Kept in a dark, sterilized container, it will keep indefinitely. Makes 6 ounces.
1 tablespoon dried calendula petals
1/4 cup almond or coconut oil
1 ounce beeswax, unmelted
In a coffee grinder or using a mortar or pestle, grind together the
calendula blossoms with the oil and stir in the beeswax. Massage a dime-sized drop into hands and cuticles. Store in an airtight container.
If you observe a really happy man you will find him building a boat, writing a symphony, educating his son, growing double dahlias in his garden, or looking for dinosaur eggs in the Gobi desert. He will not be searching for happiness as if it were a collar button that has rolled under the radiator. He will not be striving for it as a goal in itself. He will have become aware that he is happy in the course of living life twenty-four crowded hours of the day. ~W. Beran Wolfe
